Previous Projects

  • The client had a small cranes division but their quotation was taking too long. I designed and built a new estimator program that took the key inputs (SWL, height, width, speed) to specify and price the crane within seconds.

  • Long before accounts packages integrated directly with your bank, I built a bank reconciliation application that took a CSV file output and automated the bank reconciliation process - providing suggestions for deposits including developing an algorithm to help the user allocate transactions where there were multiple deposits on a single transaction.

  • This client - a Cut, Make, Trim clothing manufacturer needed to replace their incumbent system due to the supplier going out of business. The primary role of the system was to control production and manage staff costs, including a full wage package.

  • A full Line of Business application to control the sales, purchasing and inventory management for a steel stockholder specialising in the Oil and Gas industry.

  • The client was using a Microsoft Access order entry and processing system for Heat Treatment. I migrated the system to a WPF application - including functions such as live furnace viewing, chart approval.

  • This client had recently moved to paying all staff by BACS but the output document from their payroll package created a file that resulted in all individual staff payments being included in the bank statement. I created a small application that reconfigured the output document so that it was a single entry on the bank statement.

  • I built the original system for this client back in 2005 - since then their customer requirements had changed significantly and testing requirements had increased. As a result, order entry could take as long as 40 minutes. Using this as the starting point for a new application, I reduced order entry to a couple of minutes for even the most complex of order. Invoicing was also improved with the time to close the end of month down to a few minutes.

  • I created piCalculator - the leading tool used by lawyers to build schedules of loss in large loss personal injury claims. This business was acquired by Verisk in 2017 and forms part of their Personal Injury line of products.

  • Traditional insurer large loss (catastrophic claims) reserving was still done by spreadsheet. This system, based on piCalculator, gave insurers complete visibility of their reserves along with the ability to see how changes to discount rates and life expectancy would impact those reserves. Forecasting changed from days to seconds.

  • Analyses audiograms in conjunction with industry accepted methodology to determine both likelihood and severity of Noise Induced Hearing Loss.

  • This client wanted visibility of their heat treatment facility from anywhere - incorporating the ability to see where furnaces had deviated from their prescribed process. This solution monitors all furnaces across 5 different sites, integrates with the production system and provides a unified view of the entire estate.
